hello friends! hope your week is off to a good start. here’s my first ever tutorial video of how i made this dinosaur trinket dish, i also did a voice over so if you could put it on in the background to keep you company whilst you do your thing!
i’m really anxious about posting these types of videos, i know it will get easier though. i’d love to hear your feedback on what i could improve on and what you liked and also what you want to see in the next video! below i have explained a bit more and linked the products i used and also the other products i like to use on a regular basis. i don’t receive any payment for sharing these links with you i just want to give you links incase you’d like to buy any of these bits for yourself!
- polymer clay – the one i used in this video is by arteza. i usually use fimo (not the soft kind) and they are very similar. the arteza one has a slightly different texture and is a bit lighter in weight in my opinion. when it was baked it was pretty much identical to fimo! i buy my fimo on amazon, i used to buy it from hobbycraft but their prices went way up it now costs £17 for 1lb whereas amazon sells it for £12.80 for 1lb. the arteza one is on sale at the moment too and you get 2lbs for £14.99!
i buy my fimo on amazon – https://www.amazon.co.uk/STAEDTLER-8021-0-ST-Hardening-Modelling/dp/B07NLQQBCP/ref=sr_1_3?crid=20CI724LO4D7&keywords=fimo+white&qid=1670248596&sprefix=fimo+whit%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-3
this is the arteza one – https://arteza.co.uk/collections/polymer-clay/products/oven-bake-clay-2lb-single-colour - clay tools – not essential but are handy and i’d recommend for beginners.
the clay tools i used – https://arteza.co.uk/collections/polymer-clay/products/pottery-and-clay-sculpting-tools-set-of-22 - paint – in this video i used the arteza gouache. i really liked this paint, i recommend doing 2 coats with lighter colours like yellow and green. try not to use too much or it will probably crack when dry! gouache is water soluble. i also use turner acrylic gouache, it can be pricey, i started out with a set of 24 from amazon for £39.99. it was worth it since i love this medium so much now, i now buy single tubes from jackon’s art. you can also use normal acrylic paint for projects like this but i just prefer acrylic gouache!
the acrylic gouache it use – https://www.amazon.co.uk/Turner-acrylic-gouache-colors-school/dp/B001NGOGQO/ref=sr_1_5?crid=31GMFFXL8SSCG&keywords=acrylic+gouache&qid=1670249169&sprefix=acrylic+gouache%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-5
the arteza gouache – https://arteza.co.uk/collections/paint-and-mediums/products/gouache-paint-set-of-60-colours - brushes – i love these brushes because the handles have thicker bit at the bottom which is easier to grip on to and make detail work so much easier.
